As you continue your education here at Walnut Hills and beyond, you will need to use web-based resources as you research projects. Though the internet can be a wonderful tool, much of the information you will encounter is erroneous or biased. This short activity will help teach you how to evaluate web-based resources to determine whether websites are authoritative, accurate, and current.

For this mini-project, you must chose a topic of interest to you. You should know a little about this topic, but should not have researched it in the past. For example, if you are a fan of Aaliyah, you might choose her as a topic for this activity. You must turn in your topic to me in advance of the day we will spend in the computer lab. Each person must investigate a different topic, and once you have submitted the topic, you may not change your mind.

We will go to the computer lab on Friday, September 27th to work on this project. Ms. Barringer will lead you through a website evaluation in class that day. You will receive a website evaluation form in the computer lab which you will need to fill out as you evaluate a website you have not previously seen on your topic. Your grade will be based on the thorough and thoughtful completion of that evaluation form. I will collect the forms on Tuesday, October 1st. In addition, you should be prepared to discuss your findings with the class the following week.
